SharedWork, Paid Leave, UI Tax and Wage Reporting

The Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce invites you to the 2023 monthly business resource webinar series. Register yourself and a business colleague to gain important insights for business success. 

This series provides program overviews, requirements, resources, and the most current information for businesses. This valuable information helps businesses make informed decisions for operational effectiveness throughout the year. 

The webinar series kicks-off with an introduction to the SharedWork Program, UI tax and Wage, and Paid Leave.

What you’ll learn about the SharedWork program:

  • Voluntary state program that provides employers an alternative to layoffs when business is slow.
  • Preserves employees’ jobs and employers’ trained workforces during times of lowered economic activity.
  • Is an opt-in program and excellent business resource to help stabilize the operations of most businesses during temporary economic setbacks.
  •  Cushions the adverse effect of the reduction in business activity on workers by averting layoffs and ensures that these workers will be available to resume prior employment levels when business demand increases.
What you'll learn about unemployment insurance taxes and wage reporting:
  • The key components of tax and wage.
  • Overview of UI tax experience rates.
  • Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) code reporting requirements
  • Upgraded EAMS
  • Benefit and relief of charges.
  • Refunds and much more.
What you’ll learn about the Paid Family and Medical Leave program:
  • Benefits and eligibility, providing additional benefits, also called “supplemental benefits,” to employees, notifying your employees about the benefit and calculating and collecting premiums.
  • Benefits and eligibility for workers to receive up to 12 weeks of paid time off.
  • Learn how employers can provide additional benefits, also called “supplemental benefits,” to their employees on top of the state’s Paid Family and Medical Leave benefits.
  • Notifying your employees about the benefit.
  • Under the law, you are required to inform your employees about the Paid Family and Medical Leave program by posting a notice in a place customarily used to post other employment-related notices.
  • How to calculate and collect premiums.
